My MP3 Player is not working right...?

Yesterday my MP3 was working fine in the morning. I had turned it off and when I came home at night and tried turning it back on, it wouldn't work. A screen would pop up saying "profiling requires 20MB of free space" So I try to hook it to my computer and my computer won't recognize it. Meaning, I can't delete songs to give it the space it says it needs, though this is the first time its done this and I've nearly filled it up before... The USB connector works fine, so I know thats not the problem. My MP3 player is an RCA M4304-A model from Walmart...So can anyone think of anything I can do to fix this, or should I just buy a new one...
